PRICES FOR HANDMADE CARTER GUITARS

I build ORIGNAL DESIGNS of CARTER GUITAR that you can see for yourself here. These are my favourite individual designs from the past couple of years that I have been trying out with different components - these designs can be made to order using your choice of materials/components and design features. All enquiries should be emailed to info@carterguitars.co.uk

Prices for a Carter guitar like the ones below start from £700 depending entirely on what materials are used and what components you require. You can choose all materials and components before construction begins, and rest assured I will be more than happy to advise on wood types, and construction techniques during this process.

I would ask for a 50% deposit up front as standard to cover cost of materials, with the rest payable on completion. Turnaround time is about 3-6 months once I receive a deposit and order the materials.

There are various options available for the types of wood used to construct your guitar - obviously some specimens are more expensive than others depending on the species, grain quality etc. - this will be taken into account when working out your quote. I endeavour to source woods from sustainable and legitimate sources - including use of reclaimed woods. Below are a few options of the popular woods used in guitar construction:

Body Top (bookmatched or single piece) Neck Fingerboard

African Mahogany

Maple

Ash

Alder

Walnut

Curly maple

Spalted maple

Quilted maple

Walnut

African Mahogany

Maple (curly or plain)

Ebony

Indian Rosewood

Maple

I can also obtain reclaimed woods to build your guitar - this does not necessarily mean it will be cheaper as reclaimed woods often need a lot more preparation. You can use pretty much any species of wood to build guitars (there is a lot of debate over tonewoods and what sounds best but this is mostly down to personal preference). If you are after something slightly different from the norm (eg. oak, fir, iroko etc) then I will quite happily work with you in making your dream guitar a reality!

Finally here are just some of the options for brands of other components used - most customers will have an idea of what they would like to use but it's worth listing a few popular brands so you can head off and check out reviews and youtube demos etc. Follow the links if you are interested
